Who We Are
Welcome to the Hunter House Victorian Museum, Norfolk, Virginia’s premier destination for exploring Victorian history. Step into the elegance of the Gilded Age inside our beautifully preserved 1894 Richardsonian Romanesque Revival home.
As a growing institution, we are committed to making education accessible to everyone. Admission to our tours is free, with donations warmly welcomed. Throughout the year, we feature a variety of rotating exhibits—so there’s always something new to discover.
In addition, we host engaging and entertaining fundraising events each month. Whether you join us for a tour or attend a special event, there are many ways to experience and support the museum.


Our Mission
The Hunter House Victorian Museum is a non-profit 501(c)3 historic house museum with a mission to tell the human stories of late 19th and early 20th century life through the lens of the everyday experiences and collections of the Hunter Family, their staff, and their local community in order to foster a commitment to preserving local heritage, inspire an appreciation for the broader historical narrative, and reach diverse communities through inclusive, accessible, educational, and innovative programming.
Our Staff
We are a family of creative minds, qualified curators, and professionals in different fields who are bound by an undying passion for the History Museum world. We are proud to be a staff of 3 women here at the Hunter House, and are all honored to continue to to serve the mission that Eloise Hunter, another history loving woman, endowed to us.
