Ways To Give
In addition to becoming a museum member, there are many ways you can give to the Hunter House Victorian Museum to support our mission to educate the public in late nineteenth century decorative arts, Victorian Era culture and early 20th century culture, and the structure’s significance in Norfolk’s local history.
Monetary donations are always accepted in person at the museum via card or cash, or via mailed check.
1
Monetary Donation
Tax-deductible donations by check can be mailed to the museum at 240 W. Freemason Street, Norfolk, Virginia, 23510. As a non-profit 501(c)3 entity, we will happily provide a receipt for your donations when requested.
2
Donations of Goods
Donations of goods are accepted on an as-needed basis determined by the Museum Director. If you have Victorian era clothing, décor, accessories, silverware, linens, or china you wish to donate, please call the museum at 623-9814 to arrange a meeting to view and discuss your items. We also accept items on loan for specific exhibits or for limited amounts of time. These arrangements can be made with the Museum Director upon acceptance and receipt of your items. We appreciate your consideration in allowing us to become the home for your precious family heirlooms.
3
Adopt-A-Box Program
‘Adopt a Box’ Program to help store and preserve the items in our third-floor archive. For a $50 donation, we will purchase a box in your name for a specific item in our collection in need of rehousing. We will apprise you of the item your donation has saved by way of a letter of thanks and a picture of the item. You may request specific items, such as dresses or letters, when submitting your check or cash donation.
5
Estate Planning
If you so desire, please consider including us in your will or estate planning. This is one of the most cherished ways of giving, as it is enduring and very personal. To discuss your options, contact Museum Director Renee Evans by phone or email.
